Bio Mass Tax Credit

Bio Mass Tax Credit

Great news! The recently passed American Taxpayer Relief Act includes a bill that extends the tax credit towards biomass (translate: wood and pellet) burning appliances.

What does this mean?
This means you are eligible for a 10% tax credit of up to $300 on qualifying wood and pellet stoves.

Which models qualify?
Check with The Fire Place for the approved Brands and Models.

What are the eligible dates?
You can apply for the tax credit on any qualifying purchase made:
January 1, 2012 – December 31, 2013

Please be aware that this tax credit is an extension of the previous Residential Energy Credit bills that date back to 2008. There is a “lifetime limit” of $500 on this credit. Make sure you understand that previous purchases or home upgrades that were claimed on the IRS Residential Energy Credit form may affect your current eligibility.

As in the past, if you have specific questions regarding the IRS form or this tax credit we recommend you check with your local tax professional.

When you purchase an approved appliance we will provide you with a Certificate, to verify the efficiency of the unit installed.  This shows that your product qualifies for the US tax credit.

If you still have questions about the US Biomass Tax Credit, please speak to your personal tax consultant. Again if you have any questions about specific manufacturers products that qualify, please contact us.
